SAP Cloud ALM – What’s New in Week 30

Welcome to our ongoing SAP Cloud ALM update series! Every two weeks, SAP introduces a fresh batch of enhancements to Cloud ALM, offering users the latest features, performance improvements, and user interface upgrades. In this post, we will explore the newest updates released in week 30. If you missed our article on the latest updates, you can read it here.

Administration

Landscape Management have many new features available. With those updates new user roles was added:

  • Landscape Security Viewer: View and download certificates and service keys, view landscape objects.
  • Landscape Administrator: Create and manage landscape objects.
  • Landscape Viewer: Display landscape objects.
  • Landscape Access Controller: View landscape objects (subject to access control) and manage access control.
  • Landscape Access Viewer: View landscape objects and view access control.

In the Configuration, there is now a Certificates section. The section is only displayed if user has at least the role Landscape Security Viewer or Landscape Security Administrator. Here it is possible to create exactly one client certificate for SAP Cloud ALM. To create or manage the certificate, user needs the role Landscape Security Administrator. This client certificate can be used to create an endpoint with authentication type ClientCertificateAuthentication. This authentication type is currently applicable for the use cases Business Process Monitoring and Exception Monitoring for cloud service type Success Factors HCM. In the future, more service types will use this authentication type.

Previously, users with the appropriate authorization could access all landscape objects (services, systems, and business services). No distinction was made between different objects.

As a Landscape Access Controller, it is now possible to activate Access Control, which allows to restrict the visibility of specific landscape objects to specific users. Which users can access which landscape objects is determined by Access Control Lists.

SAP Business Transformation Center

In Cycle and Monitoring has now Preparation readiness confirmation popup.

When selecting Run Preparation in the Manage Cycles app the Confirmation popup window opens. There it is possible to confirm the results of the preparation readiness checks before starting the preparation phase.

Implementation

Projects and Setup has a new role: Onboarding Specialist.

In Processes a new tag is assigned due to obsolete solution scenarios.

As of release 2408, the solution scenario Two-Tier ERP will become obsolete as it is merely a subset of solution processes that belong to SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Coinciding with this release, the tag Hybrid Deployment (Two-Tier ERP) has been automatically assigned to the solution processes within SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition that are eligible for a Two-Tier ERP implementation, so that users can identify them.

It is not possible to delete this tag assignment from the affected solution processes.

Process Authoring introtuced simplified table personalization. It’s now possible to personalize, sort and group the list of custom solution processes in a single dialog. The new Settings dialog allows quickly select which Columns to display, and to choose how to Sort or Group the list of results according to your needs, all within a single dialog. All three icons now bring up the main View Settings dialog, allowing to switch quickly between sorting, grouping and column display settings.

Documents has now Copy button on the object page. It enables to copy an existing document with all its attributes, content, references, tags, and relations to speed up work.

Operations

As mentioned before, Business Process Monitoring now supports Certificate-based authentication for SAP SuccessFactors which is recommended authentication method for this service.

In Configuration and Security Analysis, the configuration and change database (CCDB) has been extended with SAP Security Recommendation data from one additional service of SAP BTP: SAP Cloud Identity Services – Identity Provisioning.

Health Monitoring has now Access control enabled. If Access Control is active, Health Monitoring only displays services and systems with their monitoring data the user is entitled to display by access control.

This covers the services and systems in the pages Home and Monitoring, the alerts in page Alerting, and the displayed managed components in in the Scope Selection and the Configuration.

It’s now possible to monitor the job execution data of SAP Cloud Identity Services in the Job & Automation Monitoring app.

In the Monitoring page it’s now possible to filter jobs using a job name (single execution instance) from a grouped job. Drilling down in a grouped job, displays the list of all the jobs that are part of the grouped job under the Job Name column in the Executions view.

Event Action Variants are now available to configure event actions in Job & Automation Monitoring app.

Event action variants are a set of input values that can be used to quickly configure event actions. This enables to save event action configuration as a variant and reuse it in events across managed components. Event action variants are available for an event as drilling down in the Events tab in the Configuration for Services / Systems screen.

Several areas

When sending emails for the in-app notifications displayed in the SAP Cloud ALM launchpad can now use an SAP-provided email service. The email notifications go out under the sender’s name SAP Cloud ALM Notifications and the address sapcloudalm@notifications.sap.com.

If SMTP mail destination has been configured as mentioned in the documentation before, then the notification emails will still be sent via previously configured email server.
