ALM ROADSHOW Helsinki 2023

The summer break is over and we started the autumn event & conference season last week in Helsinki with the SAP ALM Roadshow. It’s the second time this event is held in Helsinki, and we can proudly say that we have been part of it both years. Last year this was a 1-day event, this year it was promoted to a 2 day event. First day was centred on customer cases presented by different partners, the second day was fully hosted by SAP with ALM Roadshow presentations.

Customer case day

As already mentioned, first we focused on different ALM topics presented in customer cases by partners. We learned about the use of Signavio in a S/4 project from Bearing Point. Vincent talked about how to do a successful Tricentis Test Automation PoC and what are the key components for it’s success. Great insights for Test Automation, like start small and business relevant. Naturally, we already follow these and other recommendations when we do our Test Automation projects here at blue.works Second half of the day was dedicated to SAP Cloud ALM.

Our good friends from Qalmari talked about Implementations and how to run projects there. They tackled multiple scenarios and showed how this can be achieved with Cloud ALM – S/4HANA implementation with SAP Activate; a S/4 upgrade and also a custom development project.

From blue.works, Carolina took the stage this year and did a deep dive into Synthetic User Monitoring – the powerful monitoring use case in Cloud ALM that uses the Selenium infrastructure. The presentation started quite heavy on the technical theory, but things picked up when we got to the live demo. She showed different monitoring scenarios that we are using for our customers – like monitoring an ABAP RFC connectivity through webgui; monitoring different metrics on a JAVA systems NWA; checking our website performance and if the “contact us” form is working. This also included examples where multiple systems are connected into one scenario, so with one check, we get the data on multiple systems. Real E2E monitoring!

Great to see that we both, blue.works and Qalmari, showed live demos on Cloud ALM, proving that the product works and is ready to be adopted!

The first day was finished with a nice dinner for the presenting partners and some free time in lovely Helsinki.

SAP ALM Roadshow day

This day was fully for SAP, where Benjamin Schneider was introducing all the latest news about SAP Cloud ALM. As this covered the whole Cloud ALM topic, starting with an introduction, most of the things were known to us. But still there were a few interesting points to take with us. For example, one cool news was that Custom Code Lifecycle Management has found its way to the cloud platform. This inclusion was first not planned but now SAP is working also on this.

So definitely something to look forward to and get more infos at the ALM Summit.

Next chance to meet the blue.works team is already in a month (10-13.10) in Mannheim for the ALM Summit. Followed by the DSAG ALM Roadshow in Zurich in November. We are looking forward to meet you at these events!
