blue.works Community Event in Milan
For this year’s Community Event our Estonian & Swiss teams gathered in warm and welcoming Milan. We left our daily routine behind for a long weekend, to celebrate, review the past year and set objectives for the future. All that, of course, with good Italian food, drinks, and great company.
Our trip to Milan started from Zurich, where all teams met to step on the train to Italy. Some of us had a chance to meet collegues in-person for the first time, although we meet each other through computer screens every day. The train took as through beautiful scenery of Switzerland, while we enjoyed the first taste of Italy by dinner table in a restaurant coach.
The first day began with a stretching walk across the fascinating Milan city quarters and with a workshop meeting in Spaces co-working spaces. Taking an in-depth look at what we achieved during the past year, both our successes and issues we can improve. Also an important announcement was made, as Juuljus Jõgar was announced a new Managing Partner for blueworks. Followed by meaningful discussions about future visions, how we could improve, how to work together more efficiently as a team and to support our individual growth and success, so the team can thrive.
The intensive meeting day, still spiced with nice rooftop breaks in the magnificent weather, was wrapped up with a dinner at restaurant Stendhal, with good Italian food, wine, and lots of laughs.
On the second day, we headed for a sightseeing tour with bikes. The tour Started at Via dei Carracci where we met our guide. The three-hour bike tour took us further from busy city center to see less visited neighborhoods. What a wonderful way to cover so many sights within a short period of time.
But discoveries continued during free time, and eventually we gathered near the Duomo to have a coffee together and to discuss about our Community Day (our weekly opportunity to meet in our offices and to focus on tasks that require in-depth collaboration). The last evening was planned for a Celebration Night dinner in Officina 12, next to a beautiful and busy Naviglio Grande canal. It is just amazing how people in our company, with different backgrounds from Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Estonia, can have a common ground, understanding, and sense of humor. The highlight of a long evening was to celebrate our community award “The Rücknahmebengel”. It`s blue.works award to recognize a colleague, who has shown an exemplary commitment to the company and team.
Heads full of great emotions and memories, and in anticipation to next year’s community event, we finally embarked on our trip home. I have to say it`s true that blue.works works and celebrates passionately.
