blueworks on Big Journey

HELSINKI – the northernmost capital of the EU and most populous city of Finland is located 80 kilometres north of Tallinn, Estonia and 400 kilometres east of Stockholm, Sweden. That was the destination where blueworks, with all its members, was travelling to on the last Friday of March.

All Hands on Deck in Helsinki

Let’s start the journey.

On the morning of the 29.03.2019, more precisely at 9.45 AM we met, all well rested and excited for the day, at the port of Tallinn. After a brief meet and greet of all team members of the Zurich and Tallinn team, it was time to get on to the ship. On the way to the ship, discussions were already developed, and we all looked forward to a nice day abroad.

Boarding

The boarding at the boat took place at approximately 10 o’clock and was a pretty fast procedure. After we were directed to our VIP room, where preparations for the first presentation and workshops were already made, started the two-hour ride to the capitol of Finland. You probably think that two hours on a boat is a long time, as well did I, but on the contrary it passed pretty fast.

As the ship was leaving the harbour, the first workshop with the whole team was starting in the VIP room. A brief introduction about what the company achieved in 2018 and the upcoming goals we want to achieve in 2019 was given as well as the first workshop. After the first workshop and a fifteen-minute coffee break the second workshop was starting. The time flew by so fast. A blink of an eye and we arrived in Helsinki, the biggest city of Finland.

Heureka

Arrived in Helsinki we got off the boat and made our first steps on Finnish soil. The sun was shining over the rooftops of the city and the smell of spring contributed to make the day quite a good one. We got on our private bus and took the approx. 20- minute ride to the Heureka science exhibition in Vantaa.

The science museum opened in 1989 as the first and only science center in Scandinavia. The permanent exhibition of Heureka exists of over 100 technical experiments to participate, a Planetarium, and an exhibit of the geological nature and flowerbeds of Finland.

The aim of the science museum is to make scientific information more popular and to develop methods that convey scientific concepts. The name Heureka, in English it is “eureka”, refers to the Greek exclamation “I’ve found it!”.

Exploring the exhibits of Heureka in Vantaa

After a good lunch, we had time to visit the current exhibition and to try out some science experiments. As we were visiting the exhibition about the brain and the dinosaur, we had much fun to try out new stuff and to learn some new facts.

Individual Talks

With a small coffee and cake break, each of us went strengthened to the individual talks. Each team member had the opportunity to individually discuss the future goals we want to achieve for ourselves to help the company become more and more established in the focused sector. After everyone had his talk, we went with the bus back to the harbour of Helsinki.

Enjoy the view

Before we entered the boat again, we visited the rooftop bar at the Clarion Hotel in Helsinki. The view was amazing and the sunset above Helsinki was stunning. We enjoyed the view and the last few sunbeams before we had to head back to Tallinn again. From now on nice chatting and enjoying was on the agenda.

Head back to Tallinn

We checked in on the boat again and went to the boat-restaurant where there was already a table reserved for our dinner. The three-course dinner was delicious, and the talks were unique. Two hours of conversation and food passed by in a flash.
When we arrived in Tallinn, we concluded the evening with nice conversation and laughter in the rooftop bar at the Swissotel.

An eventful day came to an end and the long-planned team event was a great success.

blueworks is a unique company that values teamwork and organizes such events so that the team can get closer to each other.
I believe that the blueworks team is achieving a huge amount of goals and finished projects. In the future and we will hear from blueworks all over the world.
