Introducing alm360 Data Manager

The alm360 Data Manager is on the horizon, designed to solve critical challenges around data management in SAP Cloud ALM. Whether you’re managing complex data structures or trying to streamline backups and recovery, the alm360 Data Manager is built to make it easier.

After being through two exciting ALMathons (SAP’s hackathon focused on extending SAP Cloud ALM), once with alm360 Hub and a second time with what started as the TARDiS prototype – Toolboxfor ArchivingandRecovery of Data in SAP Cloud ALM- has now evolved into a full-scale product: the alm360 Data Manager. With validated use cases and proven demand, development is moving forward to deliver this powerful tool to the SAP store soon.

What Does the alm360 Data Manager Do?

  • Scheduled and On-Demand Backups of Entities
alm360 Data Manager automates backups of SAP Cloud ALM entities, residing securely on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Users can schedule backups or trigger them on demand, ensuring continuous data protection with minimal manual intervention.
  • Restoring Entities with Precision
Whether you need to restore just the key details (like description, status, or assignee) or the entire entity from a previous backup, alm360 Data Manager makes recovery fast and simple. This feature minimizes downtime and operational disruption by providing flexible recovery options tailored to specific needs.
  • Move Entities Between Tenants
Seamlessly transfer entities between SAP Cloud ALM environments with ease, eliminating the need for manual migration processes that can be time-consuming and error-prone.
  • Importing Entities from External Sources
alm360 Data Manager isn’t limited to internal backups—import entities from platforms like Atlassian. The built-in field mapping feature allows for accurate and customizable data transfer, ensuring that imported data aligns perfectly with your existing structure.
  • Keeping Imported Entities in Sync
Once entities are imported from external sources, the alm360 Data Manager can keep them in sync with their original system. This ensures data consistency and accuracy, reducing the need for manual updates and preventing discrepancies between platforms.

Although we’re starting with SAP Cloud ALM Tasks, the alm360 Data Manager is designed with flexibility and future-proofing in mind. Our roadmap includes expanding the tool to manage other entity types within SAP Cloud ALM, ensuring that as your environment grows, the alm360 Data Manager will grow with you. This adaptability is key for users who anticipate scaling their operations or integrating other systems into their ALM ecosystem.

During the ALMathon, we gathered critical feedback from real users about their challenges with data management in SAP Cloud ALM. The insights from these events helped us fine-tune the alm360 Data Manager to address the most pressing issues—making sure it’s not just a useful tool, but one that’s built to solve the real problems users face every day.

Does this spark new ideas for automating or streamlining your processes? We’re glad to help! Contact us today, and let’s collaborate on a plan to improve your workflows and unlock greater efficiency together.
