Solution Manager SPS17 with Focused Build SP12: Our top 5 highlights
SAP recently released Focused Build SP12 together with Solution Manager SPS17 (or vice versa – but SolMan and FB are delivered bundled, i.e. for a Focused Build update, SolMan must also be updated). We have already tested these new versions extensively in our system, and some great improvements and new functions have indeed been added to the system. Here is our top 5.
Top #1: Improved customization for individual customer needs in requirements management: With Focused Build SP12, SAP offers an even more flexible solution for a transparent requirements management. Requirements management can now be easily adapted to the specific requirements and, for example, you can specify which customer fields should be editable in which status of the requirements.
Top #2: The new Solution Readiness Dashboard is now completely in the new Fiori design and provides a comprehensive overview of the status of the project. Which work packages and work items are delayed? Where is a functional/technical specification or the test case still missing? The Solution Readiness Dashboard allows you to keep track of the progress of the project at all times, and bottlenecks or delays can be identified at an early stage and countermeasures taken.
Top #3: Without Excel acrobatics to the Solution Documentation Tree Assignments Report. If you wanted to display the structure of the SolDoc in the previous support packages, this was only possible with Excel acrobatics. The report is now available in the standard system, so the structure of the solution documentation can be clearly displayed without having to resort to tedious Excel work. The report automatically generates a visual representation of the solution documentation structure tree and provides a quick overview.
All Excel enthusiasts can then download this information as an Excel file in a second step.
Top #4: More evaluation options in the Test Suite Dashboard! For one of our S/4HANA projects, we urgently needed an evaluation of the test case classification. And, we got this with SP12 – thank you!
Top #5: Improved release notes. We have long noted at SAP that the possible side effects of new or changed functions are sometimes difficult to assess because the overview of the changes is sometimes lacking. SAP has now significantly improved the release notes.
Focused Build SP12 and Solution Manager SPS17 once again bring good improvements and new functions to the system. The new Solution Readiness Dashboard, the customization options in Requirements Management and the Solution Documentation Tree Assignments Report are just some of the highlights that will help to make business transformation more efficient and successful.
